Embroidery
The IC Fab Lab has a BAI Mirror 1501 (sometimes you will see it written as BAI M1501) embroidery machine.
Documents: Useful documentation about the machine and such will be stored on the share drive until Ray gives me (Marsha) sufficient access to upload files:

Maintenance: Most of the maintenance on this machine will be done by the Embroidery Champion. However, you may need to do some quick fixes during normal use of the machine.
Replacing a broken needle: If you break a needle on the machine, it is ok to just move your thread to a different needle to complete your project (just make sure you change it in the system too) and leave a note for the Champion. However, if you really want to change it, here's the process (or see video below):
- Gather supplies from the embroidery toolbox (located under the machine) - you need the 2mm allen wrench, pliers, and a new needle.
- Using the 2mm allen wrench, loosen the screw that holds the needle just enough to pull the old needle out with pliers.
- Insert the new needle with groove side facing forward (you'll have to feel for the groove with fingernail, it can be hard to see). Rotate the needle about 15 degrees to the right, then, holding the needle in place with the pliers, use the allen wrench to tighten the screw.

Oiling the machine: if you are working on a large project or are running several projects on the same day, you may need to oil the bobbin hook. This needs to be done after every 8 hours of use. See video for how to do this.
